May 19th Unveiling Party Leads Off Moosefest Celebration

On A beautiful evening in Bennington, Vermont hundreds of people congregated at the Brush Building on Main Street to meet and greet this year's fantastic herd of moose. The moose were spectacular in their array of colors, styles, and themes. Many of the moose had additions that went beyond painting. There were copper, wood, fiberglass and all manner of creative media attached to the various moose. Painted moose were beautiful and artistic, proving once again that our artists are the best Vermont (or anyone ) has to offer.

Besides the crowd estimated between eight hundred and a thousand people, special guests, including all the volunteers were on hand to welcome townspeople and friends to the exciting event.

Joanne Ehrenhouse, Director of the Bennington Area Chamber of Commerce, and Lindy Lynch, Chair of Moosefest, introduced the guest speakers. Vermont State Representative Mary Morrissey, Vermont Arts Council Executive Director Alex Aldrich, and Vermont Department of Tourism Representative Steve Cook, all were lavish in their praise of the wonderful job done by artists and volunteers. Special recognition also was mentioned for the website, Bennington Moosefest. Com

In all it was a great lead in to the celebration and attraction of Moosefest 2009.
