Running with the Herd Area businesses join Moosefest with moose themed merchandise and other special offers

Moosefest must be happening at the right time and at the right place. Bennington business people are piling onto the bandwagon by becoming the Bennington Area Chamber of Commerce Moose Partners. Our Sponsors have already set the pace by buying in to the project early and supporting Moose Street Art Sculptures at their locations for the May- October season. The whole town is getting into the spirit. Our own Town Garage Crew has volunteered to set the 450 pound concrete bases onto their sites in preparation for the Moose Installation on May 21st.

To explain the great excitement these fabulous creatures bring to our community is almost impossible. Our Artists have outdone themselves. The Grand Opening of the Stark Hose Gallery with the Table Top School Moose week long exhibit had a line out the door the other night. Here are some examples of community moosefest fever:

Billy T's Northside Dairy Bar is offering Moose On The Loose Sundaes. In addition you can buy a t-shirt with their Moose on the back. I think this will be Bennington's version of American Idol only for Moose. Quick Print is offering Moose Note Pads. The Bennington Bookshop will carry a selection of Moose-related books. Stop in and browse around. Next go into Shaffe's Men's Shop for a 100% silk Moose tie. These come in four colors and have a neat allover moose pattern and would be good for any occasion.

Right now according to Jude there are 23 different Moose Items at Evans' News. Garden Stepping Stones, Sweatshirts and kitchen linens are just a few. Stop in and get a bag full of goodies! The Knotty Pine Motel is offering Midweek Moose Specials. Join the Moose Scavenger Hunt, complete your form and receive 10% off your stay and take home a Moosefest 2009 souvenir. This offer is in effect Mondays-Thursdays 05/31/09 through 09/17/09 with a two night minimum stay. Camelot Country Store out at Camelot Village will be selling Maple Moose Pops and Moose Slippers plus more. Camelot Craft Center will have a "Spot the Moose and Save" promotion. They carry earrings, pins, and other great things.

Check at the Chamber for all the details of Eddington House Inn's "Moose Mania Package along the Moosefest Trail". At $399 for two it includes a ton of benefits. The Village Chocolate Shoppe is going to create a girlfriend for Benny the 80 pound chocolate moose. That's a lot of Moose Chocolate!!! All kinds of Moose delights will be available in the Chocolate Shoppe. Stop by on Funtastic Fridays for evening Moose themed activities.

Second Hand Rose is joining the fun with Moose Pins. Find some great retro outfits to wear them with. The Bennington Museum has an amazing gift shop. They are stocking up on some very attractive Moose "Stuff": Danforth pewter Moose Ornaments, shelf size Moose Statues, and other interesting items. Tofel Jewelers has created a new Moose Charm. Available in sterling silver and 14-K yellow gold they are available to add to the original Moose 2005 charms.

These are a special production for the 2009 Moosefest. Bennington Potters is donating part of the proceeds to Moosefest which will in turn help benefit the four Moosefest 2009 non-profits. The organizations are The Young Professionals, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Bennington Center for the Arts, and the Bennington Free Library. Thank you, Bennington Potters, you always think of our community!

The Arlington Inn has a great Moose Package. Meet their Appaloosa Moose! They will supply you with a Moose Map, chocolate, picnic for your scavenger hunt day trip, and the chance to sleep with a moose (at least in the Inn with a Moose on the property).

Last abut not least is the Better Bennington Corporation who has helped the Chamber in a million ways on this project. It is wonderful to have an organization in town who also works hard for the greater good. Whenever the Chamber needs help the BBC just asks "when and where"?

The product they have worked on is to encourage Downtown merchants to get involved. It sure looks like they have done it. Thank you!!!!

We are sure many more of the businesses are planning to offer Moose Specials and will want to add their Moose Products and Packages to the project. Please call Gay Baker at 802-447-3311. The more the merrier!!!
