Moosefest Preview Party May 10, 2005
Wildly successful does not even begin to cover the Moosefest Champagne Party held at the BCIC Building on May 10th, 2005. Vermont's Govenor Jim Douglas and Representative Mary Morrisey officially opened the festivities with a ribbon cutting. What a magical evening for Bennington! Sigrid Soloman, Dean of Students at Southern Vermont College chat's with Govenor Douglas about Moosefest.

Bruce Hyde Commissioner of Tourism was also in attendance. "What a great turnout, the Moose are wonderful!" said Bruce. There was a long line outside the building, attendance was estimated at upwards of six hundred. Mary Morrissey and Bruce discuss the delicious food that was served.

Paula Lasell, a teacher at Catamount Elementary School was the winner of the auction of Govenor Douglas's tie. Paula said she planned to wear the tie to school to show it to her students the next day.

The excitement in the air was both electric and contageous. All the volunteers, and all the residents who supported this effort are certainly to be congratulated! Bennington's pride and spirit were certainly well represented. Little Cara proudly models her new Moosefest T-Shirt. T-Shirts are can be purchased at the Chamber Office.

Barbara Sirvis escorts "Monte" the Southen Vermont College Mascot as Monte welcomes his artsy relatives. Truly, it was a magical evening that was enjoyed by all.
