Aurora Dance Party

Wow! Double Wow! The Aurora Dance Party on Saturday April 9th was a resounding success! From the welcoming moose in front of the old Ben-Hi to the wonderfully decorated gymansium the entire event was a fantastic testimonial to the hard work by promoters Michele Hogan and DJ Jimmy Woodard. Don't you love the shadow cast by "Maury, Moose about Town" created by Susan Church for patrons Star Electric and Rehm=Brandt Design.

Inside the gym an army of Moosefest volunteers, decorated, hung lights, and created a funky party atmosphere.

Sue, Jeff, PJ, Gay and Patti are ready for party goers! Watching with great interest were more of our Moose out for an evening on the town.

The dancers and "Any Which Way But Moose" by Keith Bona. The Moose are becoming real hams for the camera.

"Salvador Dali Moose" fondly known as "Sal" is our moose that will be raffled. Sal was created for patron Now and Then Books by artist Tony Conor.

Entertainment was a highlight of the evening!
Kitty and the Sahidi Sisters (Laura Favuzza, Kathy Irion, Joslyn Jordan and Kathleen McBrien) performed their dances to the sound of resounding cheers!

The talented Olivia Oller performed her high flying gymnastics which had every single attendee holding their breath. Great going Olivia!

Delicious offerings of Indian Food and outstanding deserts were available to feed the hungry dancers. DJ Jimmy Woodard and the Borealis Drummers kept the party upbeat all evening long.

Beverages were provided by Kevin's @ MikesPlace of North Bennington.

A superior fashion show, featuring the designs of MaryJane (http://www.maryjaneartwear.com) and beautiful local models was another surprise treat of the evening. Locals Holly Barry and the Tele'Ricos" exploded onto the runway in front of the cheering onlookers to perform a daring 'drag and the buxom beauty' song and dance routine.

The Moosefest committee wants to thank our community for the tremendous support! The fun has just begun..........mark your calendars for May 10th the preview party at the BCIC Building in North Bennington.

Heartfelt thanks to all the Moosefest Committee members who have put so many hours into this wonderful project!

I'm sure you can tell I've tried to squeeze lots of photos into this posting, there's just so much fun we want to share. A party goer came up to Jimmy Woodard and thanked him for the fantastic evening. He said they added that our community reminded them of the television show Northern Exposure. Here in this old school building was gathered a tremendous crown of diverse people - from all age groups, all walks of life, all life styles and alternative life styles...and everyone was having such a great time together! It was just great! This is what makes Bennington such a great place to live!
