The artistic flair of MooseFest 2005 artist Susan Unsworth brightens the Massachusetts Berkshires in many ways. Unsworth is the senior graphic artist at the Dalton, Mass.-based Yankee Shopper, and is also involved in catalogue development at the Pittsfield, Mass.-based Wild Sage. Wild Sage showcases Unsworth's talents in other ways as well; she has painted chairs, shelves, carousel horse statues, and other items sold at the shop.
Unsworth's fingers are rarely idle, in 2002 she designed ornaments for the Berkshire Museum's Festival of Trees and she was among the artists selected to design and paint Merino sheep sculptures as part of the 2004 Pittsfield, Mass. Sheeptacular event.
Unsworth is the force behind the Red Devil Lounge's logo, which is predominantly featured on menus, advertisements, and the business sign.
Her MooseFest 2005 moose statue features Monarch butterflies painted "from antler to hoof," Unsworth said. Titled "Metamorpho-Moose," the design found a sponsor in Jay's Art Shop and Frame Gallery.
Unsworth lives on Backman Ave. in Pittsfield and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Illustration.
