Mooselation

Berni McMahon has been the art, music and drama teacher at the Lanesborough Elementary school for the past 28 years. Though most of her creative time is spent encouraging kids to be creative, she does make time for her own sculptural projects. She is currently working on a 7 sculpture series of ancient Goddess figures for an outdoor garden grotto installation. This work in progress has been 3 years in the making so far. She works in copper, concrete & Dryvit, rebar, clay, wood and foam. She holds a B.S. in education and an M.S. in Creative Arts in Education concentrating in Visual Arts with A minor(no key pun intended) in music. She is also a long-time, rowdy-girl, guitar-slinging participant in the local Northern Berkshire music scene.

Denise Boyer Orr
I grew up in the Berkshires and though I have moved around a bit, have found myself back here. The area has something very attractive about it that I love. I have a Bachelors in Graphic Design from the University of Massachusetts., Amherst. Currently I am working at TransWestern Publishing as an Account Executive and doing Freelance Graphic Design on the side. I also volunteer at Images Cinema in Williamstown, MA.

Lately I have been working with wood burning, painting, and stain glass sculpture. My art has had a few main influences including Wassily Kandinsky, Jerry Uelsmann Tony Oursler, my grandfather Roger Grant, John Maziarz and of course my friend and teacher Berni McMahon. I like my art to show visual rhythm and tend to work on a larger scale. As an artist, each work in its own special way displays my emotions and attitudes, and my ideas & goals as both a person and an artist.

One of my main works was Facets Exposed, a multi-media installation at the University of Massachusetts, reflecting the many ways that the world can be viewed through the eyes of different people. It was a look at how everyone can perceive the world differently from the viewpoint of others, ranging from the way each person views colors to how certain things can evoke various emotions in different people. Facets Exposed created a lot of feelings and interpretations for the viewer through the use of lenticular distortion, architecture, and video.
