Pre-Commissioned, Not for Auction
Sue Kline, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, introduces us to "A Stitch in Time" a boldly painted moose wearing an antique quilt that has been "patched" with scenes from times past.
Sue's home in Bennington, a mini farm has inspired the artist to paint scenes from the past that pertain to the farm's rich history. Sue told us, "As a dealer in antiquities, I envisioned my moose wearing an antique quilt, and then I thought a modern day quilter might decide to 'patch up' the old quilt's bare, worn areas, using patches with scenes depicting events that happened here over time."
Sue studied at the University of Cincinnati College of Fine Art and Design, and was a student of watercolorist and pastel artist Arlene Osley in Pensacola, Florida. She has spent time in Athens, Rome, and Florence, Italy studying from the old masters, and at the Chinese National Museum in Taiwan.
Moosefest 2005 is delighted to have A Stitch in Time in its collection. This moose is one of nine moose that has been prepurchased. Look for him at Sweet Pea Antiques, Route 7, Bennington, Vermont.
To attend the Moosefest 2005 Gala and bid on the other available moose that will be auctioned, plan on visiting the Bennington Center for the Arts, on Route 9, Benningon, Vermont, October 29, 2005.
