Tony Conner says he was awestruck by the peaceful beauty of the countryside that he saw on his first visit to Vermont on a cold, clear night in January, 1987. These memories inspired the moonlight scenes depicted on his moose.
The focus of Conner's work is most often the quality of light itself. As a representational landscape painter following the traditions of early masters of the watercolor medium, his work often contrasts organic forms with those of human creation. Conner is primarily a landscape and seascape artist but also creates works based on life and floral subjects.
Tony Conner's works are included in many private collections and have appeared in national and regional juried shows. His paintings have won awards from the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society and the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. Conner lives in Bennington, VT with his family where he works full-time as an artist and architectural illustrator. His work may be seen on the web at www.tonyconner.com.
