Susan Church Wood has been painting and sketching longer than she can remember!
After graduation from Lakeland College she studied several years at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Susan has had her work shown in many shows, primarily in the Cleveland, Ohio area. "I have painted in gouache, watercolor, and oil. Today I focus mainly on oil, although I teach a gouache class at The Village of Filmore Pond." Her paintings are in collections across the United States.
Susan says "I'm inspired by the people I meet along the way and the colors around me. I love to capture ordinary people doing ordinary things and, thus, bringing importance to our daily lives and lifting our spirits. I have traveled a lot here and abroad. Where ever I go, I carry my sketchbooks and painting supplies. I use sketching as a note-taking device along with my camera. When I come home, I transpose these 'notes' and my feelings about the people and the area onto canvas." A native of Bennington, Vermont, Susan brings historical Main Street to life on her moose "Maury, A Moose About Town."
